Well, this is not your particular hot pies, but its.. close you know, about savory hot…. buns. (66% correct, in NBA, that is like.. surpassing Shaq when he was in his prime, pretty accurate in my definition)

Anyways, I this recipe I will provide you how to do the dough, not the filling. You can put anything that is savory in the filling, including meatballs, chicken BBQ, Chinese pork BBQ, Pepperoni, Turkey, Fish, ..etc, just make sure it is cooked and you’ll be fine. Ready?

Mix flour, sugar,  and salt. You dont need to sift the mixture, but feel free to do so.

Now we have to mix everything into a large bowl, stir until the dough has pulled together.

Take it out and put it into a lighted flour surface, and then start kneading until its smooth and elastic, probably takes a bout 8 mins.

Don’t know how to knead? See the video below

All you have to do is use your fist to bring the dough together, over and over and over again for about 8 mins.

    After 8 mins….

Now we get another large bowl. This is will be the bowl for the dough to rise. Lightly oil the bowl, coat the dough with oil.

We gonna cover the oil with a light cloth, find a warm place (80-95 degree F, 27-35 degreeC) and put it there, now we play a waiting game.. about 1.5 hour, or the dough is doubled in size

Tips: You can turned on the oven and then put the dough inthe cabinet below it, or simply just put it on top of the stove, the heat would help a little bit.

This is the texture you are looking for when we are finished with the waiting game

Now, get your cooked filling ready. Whether its turkey, BBQ pork, pepperoni, meatballs…. etc… its doesnt really matter. I liked meatball so Im gonna use meatball to make this amazing bun.

But 1st, set your baking sheet with parchment paper, or grease it, whatever you want to do. Preheat your oven to 350 degree F – 175 degree C so we dont waste anytime.

Now push down the dough, then take a little bit out, be sure its more than you need.

Place your filling in between the dough, like this

Now just warp the dough together, and cut off the excessive dough. Yourbun before going to the oven should look like this

    meatball inside, dough outside

By the time you made 10 of these, your oven should be reheated. What are you waiting for? We gonna pop them in the oven now.
